Remote Area Medical® announces...

The Great RAM Beau Memorial Puppy Lift!

Although we still dearly miss RAM Beau, we are glad to announce that his spirit will live on in a new veterinary endeavor to be named
"The Great RAM Beau Memorial Puppy Lift,"
a project developed to transport shelter puppies to forever homes!

I'm a rescue!

The naming of this project was inspired by the fact that RAM Beau was our very own rescue!
To help with projects like these and other RAM Veterinary programs, gifts may be designated to RAM Veterinary Volunteers.

Because I was a
rescue, too!

RAM is working with All Breeds Dog Rescue to identify and transport puppies
who would otherwise be euthenized to forever homes!

Remote Area Medical® says goodbye to a longtime friend...
...our beloved canine companion of nearly 13 years has gone home.

With heavy hearts and through a river of tears, we said good-bye to our beloved RAM Beau, Friday, April 13, 2012. He went into severe respiratory distress around 3:30pm and trotted happily across the Rainbow Bridge less than an hour later with loving hands petting him, while he listened to affirming words by phone from some of his favorite folks who were away at a RAM clinic.

Joy & Companionship

In August of 1999, he came to us a scrawny, mischievous puppy, dropped off by someone who had no idea what joy and companionship they were tossing away. He grew into a delightful prankster with a wonderfully human sense of humor, while at the same time developing excellent manners.

Who, me?
Are those treats I see?
"Lapp" Dog?

We were a long time discovering his true identity, but, after lengthy - if accidental - research, concluded he was a Finnish Lapphund. Rare in the U.S. but common in Europe, his arrival at RAM HQ will forever be shrouded in mystery. He was a blueprint of the breed's characteristics, exhibiting a herding dog's sense of responsibility, an affinity for his people and a calm, accepting disposition.

Loyal and Committed

Health problems began in his early adulthood. Even as they progressed and multiplied, he remained committed to his self-appointed duties of daily staff greeter, quiet companion and wordless therapist. He also continued to "mess with" all of us occasionally.

Let's go for a walk!

Good boy!
Thank you, RAM Beau...

Thank you, RAM Beau, for sharing all our lives all these years and loving each of us in your own special way. We will remember your antics, your unique personality, and the vital role you played at Remote Area Medical®.

And we will miss you...

How very, very much we will miss you.....
