Free Dental, Vision, and Medical Care

Funded by donors and delivered by volunteers.

Preventing Pain and Alleviating Suffering

For more than 38 years, Remote Area Medical (RAM) has provided free healthcare services to those in need through the operation of pop-up clinics around the country. RAM’s free clinics deliver free, quality services to underserved and uninsured individuals who do not have access to or cannot afford a doctor. Today, more than 910,000 individuals have received this free care.

Our Services

Dental

At RAM free pop-up clinics, patients receive dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, and dental X-rays. For many, this is the only way they will have access to this important care.

Vision

RAM patients can receive eye exams, eye health evaluations, eyeglass prescriptions, and pick out frames to have their eyeglasses made on-site in our mobile vision lab.

Medical

All RAM patients have access to a variety of medical services based on clinic volunteer specialties, including podiatrists, family doctors, women’s health, and more.

All services are free on a first-come, first-served basis. No ID is required.

HOW RAM CLINICS WORK

Community leaders partner with Remote Area Medical to host a clinic in their community

People in need of dental, vision, or general medical care come to the free RAM event

Licensed medical professionals and general support volunteers help as many people as possible

“My vision for Remote Area Medical developed when I suffered a personal injury while living among the Wapishana Indians in Guyana, South America. I was isolated from medical care, which was about a 26-day journey away. I witnessed the near devastation of whole tribes by what would have been simple or minor illnesses to more advanced cultures. When I left Guyana, I vowed to find a way to deliver basic medical aid to people in the world’s inaccessible regions. So, in 1985 I established the non-profit, Remote Area Medical or as most people know us – RAM®. RAM is the way I have kept that promise, not only to the Wapishana Indians, but to thousands around the world in similar conditions. In other words, there are Wapishanas everywhere.”
